ProCook employees join charity Life’s a Beach for canal clean up

On Tuesday 17th May, volunteers from kitchen retailer ProCook teamed up with Life’s a Beach charity, and Printwaste to clear waste from the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.

Starting at the Black Shed in Slimbridge, volunteers walked, canoed, and used paddle boards to collect and clear as much litter as possible from the canal.

ProCook volunteers donned Life’s a Beach jackets and litter pickers and together with volunteers from Printwaste and canoes donated by Adventure Bike Hire, the teams collected 15kg of waste from the canal.

Life’s a Beach, the charity set up by ProCook’s Founder and CEO Daniel O’Neill, supports the eradication of single use plastics from British beaches and waterways, aims to educate younger generations about plastic pollution through school outreach, and promotes the use of reusable products.

Life’s a Beach Events and engagement Co-Ordinator Sophie Chappell said:

‘Collecting 15kg of waste is an amazing achievement for our first canal clean up. In making our waterways cleaner, more people can enjoy the canal and local biodiversity can continue to thrive. We hope to collaborate with ProCook on future clean up events to ensure our canals, rivers and oceans are freer of plastic pollution.’
